Kitsap TMJ Treatment Massage
“James Holzer has greatly helped patients I have referred to him over the last decade for Temporomandibular Joint Disorders. He is able to solve problems efficiently through his Strain-Counterstrain work and prevent patients from needing to be on a time-consuming maintenance program. Patients come back to my general dentistry office happy to be relieved of their symptoms and knowledgeable about how to prevent further jaw joint or muscular pain. Patients are also pleased to have James Holzer address other potentially related neck or shoulder issues for them.”

TMJ/TMD
Anyone who has experienced and suffered from TMJ dysfunction for a long time knows that its symptoms can be both varied and severe. Left untreated, TMJ dysfunction can lead to permanent changes in the joint.

Treatment
While intra-oral massage can be an effective way to ease muscle tension around the jaw joint (TMJ), it is just one aspect of treating this complex condition. Other factors—such as tightness in ligaments, irritation of nearby nerves, restricted blood flow, or issues with the joint disc—can also contribute to discomfort. Additionally, there is often a strong connection between TMJ issues and the neck—dysfunction in one can influence and aggravate the other. That’s why effective care must take all of these connected areas into account. Although this may seem complex, my advanced training and detailed assessment process enable me to provide a treatment approach that is both thorough and effective.

What to Expect
Most treatments typically require one to four sessions, depending on the severity of the condition. Treatment is gentle, and once treated thoroughly, the results are long-lasting.
